Information Notice to Grade 12 Students and Parents/Guardians

Time: Convocation 10:00 a.m. Cocktails 6:00 p.m. Dinner 6:30 p.m.
** Change to Graduation Fees**
Beginning in the 2017-18 school year, the Seine River School Division Board of Trustees has committed to cover all costs associated with graduation convocation. Previously costs associated with gown rental, hall rental, A/V expenses, and a variety of other costs were paid for by graduates and their families, typically amounting to approx. $130/graduate. Because of this new Board policy, graduation convocation fees paid for by students and parents are no longer needed.
Please note that costs associated with the graduation dinner and dance will remain the responsibility of graduates and their attending guests.
Please also note that any outstanding miscellaneous school fees (lost books, sport fees, missing team jerseys, etc.), must be paid for prior to June 26th or that student may not be allowed to attend the convocation event.
Dinner and Dance Tickets
Sales for dinner and dance tickets will be sold in 2 phases. Please note that dinner and dance tickets are non-refundable.
Phase 1 – Tuesday, April 3, 2018 to Monday, April 9, 2018
Each graduate will have the opportunity to purchase a maximum of 4 tickets during this phase. Tickets will be available at the office and must be purchased before 3:30 on Monday, April 9th to ensure all graduates have an equal opportunity for tickets.
Phase 2 – Tuesday, May 1st until tickets are sold out
Beginning at 8:00am on May 1st, graduates will be able to purchase additional tickets at a maximum of 4 per day until all tickets are sold out.
Ticket prices are estimates at between $55-$65 and final prices will be determined closer to the purchase date. Graduates will be issued their tickets after convocation upon the return of their rented gown.
In order to offset the cost to the student (and probably parents) the following fundraising opportunities are being planned by the grad committee for the year. They are:
- Show and save September
- DFS Holiday Gift Wrap October
- Mom's Pantry November
Please be advised that any fundraising overages will be applied directly to any monies paid towards a student's account. If no monies have been paid, the fundraising overages will be added to a general graduation account and not paid out to a student. Fundraising may be applied to dinner and dance tickets purchased or any other school or extra-curricular activity that requires a fee.
Also, any outside fundraising with individual businesses must be pre-approved by administration.

The following are important dates pertinent to Graduation. These are:
- Parent Safe Grad Meeting Tues, October 10, 2017 6:30p.m. Library
- Graduation Pictures TBA (usually early March)
- Graduation Rehearsal Monday, June 25, 2018, 1:00p.m. at CSNC
