Alternative Programming for High School Students

Seine River School Division offers “Alternative Academic Campus (AAC)” sites for all three high schools in the division - Ste. Anne, St. Norbert, and Lorette. These three sites are intended to meet the needs of students, who have the potential to gain academic credits but experience a mismatch between their learning styles and a typical high school environment. The AAC sites are physically separate from the school, but the flexibility of the program allows students to attain high school credits in an alternate way; students may attend the off-site campus or a combination of settings such as off-site, high school classroom and work experience/apprenticeship.   Each site is staffed with one teacher and one full time liaison worker. Students can self refer for the program or are referred by school staff. To determine eligibility for the AAC program interviews are conducted to determine the student’s learning and program needs. Families are involved throughout the process and parents must consent for their child to attend (if the student is under the age of 18).
